When a winery creates a reserve wine, it means they are taking some of their finest grapes and withholds them for one special wine. Reserves showcase some of the most delicious elements of the grapes and are made with special care. They are something to be cherished.
Inti, one of our favorite wineries from Chile, makes a couple of reserve wines every year and they are always something to which we look forward. The 2012 vintage was a year where La Nia, which brought warm temperatures which helped the robust Cabernet grapes develop an immense amount of delicious flavor. The grapes for the reserve were hand-picked for this fantastic Cabernet.
This wine is bright and aromas of red fruit and cassis come swirling out of the glass. The wine is medium bodied with soft flavors of red fruit and more robust notes of blackberry jam, toasty vanilla (from 8 months in American oak) and a hint of spice. The wine is smooth and well balanced with dry tannins on the finish. This Cab is great for beef of almost any form but if you want something for a nice, regular night meal, try pairing this with a hearty lasagna.
