Dehesa La Granja is located in western Spain in the province of Zamora with the winery built on a sprawling ranch, where the 250 hectares of high-quality Tempranillo vines produce wines that are rich in both structure and depth. Unbound by the strict protocols that govern a Denominacin de Origen (D.O.) in Spain, Dehesa La Granja may be aged and then released to market any time the winemaker chooses. This finished wine is aged for a minimum of 12 months in fine grain, neutral American oak barrels with a light-to-medium toast. With the Fernndez family dedicated to natural winemaking, the wine is neither filtered nor fined before bottling. On the nose there hints of fresh red berry fruits, such as red currants and raspberries, together with toasted and roasted coffee bean notes. The palate is silky, elegant and deliciously rich with good acidity and very pleasant, well-integrated tannins. Intense red berry fruit flavours come through in the finish. The oak is harmoniously integrated bringing hints of toast and vanilla, characteristic of a wine aged in American oak.
