“Clos du Val had a baptism of fire with their very first vintage entering the famous Judgement of Paris in 1976, they emerged victorious at the rematch ten years later and ever since have been regarded as an icon in Napa and champions of Cabernet Sauvignon. The current release of 2018 is highly regarded, winning a Decanter Platinum medal, this rigorous blind tasting assessment is judged on the quality of the wine alone. However, it also stands as recognition along with many other accolades for Clos du Vals pioneering spirit and long-term commitment to quality. The 2018 is a spell-binding interpretation of Cabernet Sauvignon, with generous cassis fruit balanced with rich dark chocolate, graphite and a firmness of tannin that provides the power which moves this wine into the next level. There is always a silky richness with Clos du Val wines which allows for immediate drinking, though they will benefit substantially from decanting. It certainly will provide great reward for those who can be patient in waiting, as this will comfortably improve over the next ten years.”

Tasting Notes
Classic Napa Cabernet. The colour is a deep garnet and the wine has aromas of black fruits, cedar wood, dark chocolate and leather. The palate is rich and complex with supple blackcurrant fruits and more complex characters of wood spice and graphite pencil. The texture is focused with well structured tannins and great acidity. A wine that drinks brilliantly now and will age well for the next decade.
