Production Details
Cooking: Autoclave (high pressure).
Crushing: Roller Mill.
Fermentation: 100% Agave without fibers. Fermentation in cement tanks.
Distillation: Double Distilled.
Still Type:Copper pot.
Ageing: 3 months in American oak casks with wood chips.
Water Source: Natural spring water.
Other: No additives.
The home of El Tequileno is the historic La Guarrena distillery located in the magical town of Tequila. El Tequileno is exclusively made here and this has not changed since it was founded by Don Jorge Salles Cuervo in 1959.
El Tequileo is one of only 8 brands of tequila that is exclusively made at its own distillery. Recently, the distillery was rated #3 top distillery out of 130 distilleries on tastetequila.com
Agaves are sourced from the highlands of Jalisco, this region is renowned for being the premier growing region for the blue agave where the mineral rich soil produces agave with a naturally higher sugar content.
Sustainability has always been an important focus for El Tequileno since its founding in 1959 with the distillery continually adapting to optimize their process and positively impact local conservation efforts. Currently, 98% of the distilleries waste is converted in to organic compost. This compost is then used as fertilizer for the next generation of agaves. A big effort is also being put into the preservation of local water sources. The master distiller, Tony Salles, is even the president of the local water board.
El Tequileno Reposado
Starting with 100% premium agaves, exclusively matured in the Highlands of Jalisco. These are then combined with the mineral-rich water from El Volcan de Tequila and distilled in copper pot stills. Aged for 3 months in large American Oak barrels resulting in a balanced, and unique combination of aroma and flavour.
