A wonderfulMalbec from Patagonia that has awonderful freshness and personality. It looks andsmells very much as you would expect of the Argentine classic very dark in colour and fairly brooding in aroma, yet with a lifted aromatic quality reminiscent of dried flowers like lavender and herbs and, most importantly, gorgeous acidity on the palate that displays a touch of elegance. There’s black cherry, blueberry and blackcurrant fruit but also hints of red cherry, strawberry and earthy minerality. It leads to a finish that is alive with thatgentle pepper, cinnamon, and liquorice complexity.
Try this with roast beef or paprika chicken.

The team at Aniello have completely renovated the old, beautiful little winery and have breathed new life into the vineyards. Patagoniaas winemaking region is very different from Mendoza; it is so very green with a huge river running right through the vineyards, and low altitude.
With vines grown near the little town of Mainqu in the Upper Ro Negro Valley, (Patagonias finest enclave for wine) Aniello is a relatively small venture encompassing old pre-phylloxera Malbec vines and a winery originally established in 1927. (In fact, the first ever vine plantings in Argentina were planted in Patagonia.) Fermented in cement vats and matured in used barrels.
MostPatagonian Malbecs are from the larger Neuquen area, but this wine from Ro Negrois head and shoulders above the rest.
