The idea of forming a partnership between Domaines Barons de Rothschild Lafite and the prestigious Argentinian wine family, Catena, was born in 1999. Initial enthusiasm quickly became a concrete plan to produce a single wine that would combine French and Argentine cultures and enhance the alliance between the signature grape of each producer, Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon. A blend of Malbec (69%), Cabernet Sauvignon (30%) and Ancellotta (1%), the Petit Caro is a balance of power and elegance, crafted from the finest grapes sourced in the high-altitude terroirs of the Andes mountains in Mendoza. Deep red in colour with intense ruby hues, Petit Caro is very fruity on the nose, with blackcurrant, strawberry, floral and minty notes coming through, followed by aromas of cassis, graphite and coffee bean. On the palate, the wine is balanced and pleasant, with texture and refined tannins. A fruity middle palate leads to an elegant and long aftertaste.
