Coudoulet is often called ‘Baby Beaucastel’ as the 30 hectare plot, also owned and run by Beaucastel’s Perrin family, is located just east of the famous Chateau de Beaucastel.The soils here are also carpeted with galets, the regions archetypal pudding stones, which help the grapes to ripen by retaining the daytime heat and releasing it at night.Plus, this blend mimics the family’s Chateauneuf-du-Pape’s recipe, with its high percentage of Mourvedre.
2021 was afabulous year for the reds of Coudoulet de Beaucastel. Full-bodied, lush, velvety in texture, featuring notes cherry and plum, laced with stony minerality and garrigue accents. Very balanced wine with beautiful tannins. The finish has great length and is very complex.
