This 25 Year old single malt is from the renowned Glenfarclas Distillery. Glenfarclas has been producing whisky for more than 180 years in the heart of the Highland region in Scotland.
Glenfarclas was founded in 1836 by the Grant family and it has been successfully family owned and operated ever since. It is well known for its commitment to traditonal whisky-making methods and its refusal to use modern technology in the process. They have their own floor maltings and still use traditional Scottish peat to dry the malted barley.
Glenfarclas 25 is aged in a combination of European and American oak casks that have previously held sherry. This helps to give Glenfarclas whiskies their signature deep amber colour and complex flavour profile. Resting for 25 years in oak means that it has had plenty of contact with the oak and so will give plenty of colour; expect a dark and deep hue in your glass as well as incredible flavour to jump out of the glass and fill the room.
On the nose, Glenfarclas 25 Year Old Single Malt has notes of honey, definite sherry complexity and big, bold spices. It was aged 100% in Olorosso casks so you’ll find plenty of that delicious sweetness, a big boozy Christmas cake kiss on the lips and a warming long finish.
This is a classic Highland whisky and an excellent choice for any whisky lover. It has won numerous awards, the latest in 2019 where it won Gold in the International Spirits Challenge.
