16 Year Old Single Cask, Single Distillery, Super Premium, Rare Rum distilled from molasses in a continuous column still in 2005 at the Corporation Alcools del Caribe distillery in Venezuela.
Between 2005 2012 the rum was matured in Venezuela in French Oak casks which previously held Brandy before being shipped to the Dominican Republic in the same casks and aged for a further 4 years.
In 2017 the rum was shipped to the UK and placed in recycled rum casks for further maturation before being bottled at cask strength of 57% ABV by House of Rum at 16 years old in October 2021.
Indulgent, rich and a fruity aroma with hints of chocolate on the nose. A little prickly heat but the ABV holds well on the palate, notes of charred wood, sugar cane sweetness, some tannin qualities, citrus fruits, burnt sugar and a touch of dark cocoa. Finishes exceptionally smooth with a perfect balance of natural sweetness.
The XO Reserve is bottled in an Ebe Decanter with a Diablo die cast metal badge at the front and each decanters individual bottle number along with their founders signature at the rear.
Sitting alongside the decanter are two exclusive House of Rum and Cumbria Crystal hand blown, hand cut 24% Lead Crystal Old Fashioned Whiskey Tumblers. Each artisan tumbler takes between 10-12 days to make and each is hand engraved in the UK in the famous Grasmere style first created by Lady Cavendish in 1976.
Only 140 bottles exist.
