Decanter World Wine Awards: 95Pts Gold Medal (2023 vintage)

Bursting with wild strawberry, raspberry, cherry and blackcurrant with a gorgeous lift of dried roses. Soft and billowing with a vivacious acidity and long, juicy finish.

Mid cherry red. A touch of smoky reduction here. Sweet cherry and vibrant, fresh red fruit. Some strawberry on the palate and super-drinkable. A wine for today’s growing preference for light, fresh and unoaked. Lots of easy, pure, fresh pleasure. With a surprisingly long finish.

About the Producer

Stavros Manolesakis and his father George Manolesakis started creating their ownvineyards in 1989, planting Greek varieties alongside international varieties. Embracingthe philosophies of culture, love and a passion for winemaking, it prompted them toestablish their own wine company: Manolesakis Estate in 1999. Keen to experiment andbreak winemaking boundaries, they have equipped the winery with the latesttechnological machinery, in order to produce the best results.

Vineyard and Winery

This wine is a blend of two indigenous varieties: Limnio, which produces full bodiedwines, with a relatively high alcohol content and a distinctive herbal character of bayleaves; and Moschomavro which produces fresh wines, with noticeable acidity, softtannins and aromas redolent of ripe red fruit, grapes and cloves. The vineyard islocated in Drama, where the microclimate has been considered the perfect spot forgrape cultivation since ancient times. Situated at an altitude of 200 to 300 metresabove sea level, the vines are cultivated in the traditional way and are planted in linearrows. The soil has a high clay content, which retains moisture during the warm, drysummers to nourish the vines.

The grapes were carefully selected and only those which had reached perfect maturitylevels were used in this blend. Fermentation took place under controlled temperaturesto obtain maximum aromatic character and smooth tannins. The wine was matured onits fine lees for a period of two months, to enhance the volume and body in theresulting wine. Blending took place prior to bottling.
