Franck Massard, esteemed sommelier and co-producer of the wines strives to produce top end Priorats that combine complexity and elegance with minimum handling.

Everything began in 2004 when Franck and an old friend decided to acquire a vineyard in Spain’s Priorat region and transform their dream into reality. As sommeliers, they wanted to learn more about production. Their first harvest was just 500 bottles and they quickly found out that developing fine wines requires skill, patience and hard work but they were delighted with their first wine, Huellas.

Visiting wine regions across Spain, they discovered extraordinary unknown vineyards and met farmers with an amazing sense of nature. Franck’s passion grew and he started to create new wines from lesser known regions like Ribeira Sacra, Terra Alta, and Valdeorras, wines with a real sense of place.

Franck’s mission is nurturing what nature provides, highlighting the undiscovered and sharing it with you.

Mas Amor is a true ambassador of Barcelona. The wine was named for the graffiti-artwork shown on the label. Spotted on the side of a house, on February 14th 2010, the decision to make a wine to reflect the image was made when just a few days after the photograph was taken the house was torn down.

Vineyards

Franck Massard knows good wine. Voted the UK’s top somellier in 1996 and later moving from wine serving to wine making, he learnt his trade with the Torres family before starting his own venture in Priorat in 2004. Franck believes all good wine starts in the vineyard and as such he devotes huge amounts of time to making sure the vines are in balance with the local ecosystem, employing organic viticulture and caring meticulously to ensure good biodiversity. The grapes for this wine are hand-harvested from 15 year old vines normally in mid-September between 6.00am and 11.00am to keep them nice and cool and maintain freshness.

Vinification

Mas Amor (more love) is a beautiful hand crafted wine which undergoes a brief maceration of just 6-8 hours to give a subtle and elegant colour. The wine is fermented at low temperature in stainless steel before bottling.

Tasting Notes

Light, elegant complex and dry with vibrant freshness in the glass and a powerful fruity, herby nose. In the mouth there is subtle minerality with a refreshing finish.

Minerality and good acidity make for a good foody rose wine. Great with shellfish, light grilled meats and tomato salads.
