The Quinta dos Muras Minas vineyards are located at altitudes between 110m (360 ft) and 300m (985 ft). South-facing, there are five water springs (in Portuguese, Minas) that help to cool the area and influence the vineyards terroir. This red wine is a blend ofTouriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Francisca, Tinta Roriz grape varieties. At the winery winemaking involvesdestemming, crushing, fermentation with indigenous yeasts and temperature control in granite lagares, foot treading and pressing in an old-style vertical press. The wine was aged in concrete vats and used french oak casks for 9 months. Minas has an intense and lively nose with dominant ripe red fruit, floral and balsamic aromas. The palate is fresh and lively with firm, ripe tannins and well integrated acidity. The finish is long and lingering with a balance of freshness and ripeness.
