The Chocolate Block is a cult wine from venerable South African producer Boekenhoutskloof for which demand always outstrips supply. Big, bold and powerful, this is a rich, smooth and complex red that lives up to its name.
From the beautiful South African region of Franschhoek, the Boekenhoutskloof winery produces limited quantities of this famous Chocolate Block wine.
The Chocolate Block red wine is ready to drink, although will benefit from some ageing also. Drink it on release, or cellar it for up to five years.
This powerful wine with good fruit and some spice tempered by flavours of dark chocolate is great with food, it is perfectly suited to char-grilled steak, game and roasts or try it with bitter dark chocolate.
The grapes come from several specially selected blocks of vines on Boukenhoutskloof’s estate, fermented and aged for up to 18 months in old French oak. Made in very limited quantities, this is a fantastic wine.
